Forensic document examination applies to the determination of legal evidence.
It concerns the reliable identification of physical evidence on a document.

Examination is conducted through various magnification devices, stereo microscope, digital microscope, IMED indention materializer, infrared ink differentiation system, ultraviolet light, transmitted light, scanner, photography, measuring devices and grids.

Education 

  • Ph.D., M.S., B.S. in psychology from California Coast University, Santa Ana. Undergraduate degree acquired at Hinrich Brunsberg College, Tangermuende, Germany.

  • Training/mentoring with Mr. S. C. McKasson, Document Section Training Coordinator, Illinois State Police (retired).

Continuing Education

  • Regular participation in proficiency testing. I continually upgrade my professional knowledge by attending seminars and workshops, specifically as offered at ASQDE (American Society of Questioned Document Examiners)  and AAFS (American Academy of Forensic Sciences) conferences.
  • Familiar with relevant textbooks in English as well as German. New material is constantly added to my reference library to keep abreast of new developments.
  • Training/mentoring with retired government Document Examiner, author and lecturer,
    S. McKasson (Illinois State Police).
  • Regular attendance at 5-day workshops in Chicago - March, May and July, 2000,
    May, 2001, April 2002, Indianapolis and November 2002, Palo Cedro (taught by Mr. Mckasson).

Professional Experience

  • Court qualified in the State of California.  Testimony in criminal and civil cases. Telephonic testimony in Des Moines, Iowa.  My in-depth analyses frequently lead to speedy settlement.  Casework extends to the states of Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Oregon, New York (City), and Massachusetts.

Teaching Experience

  • During the summer of 1997 I taught a basic course "Handwriting Identification in Suspect Documents" to officers of the correctional facility in Susanville, California.

  • Research paper presented at Joint IAFS/ASQDE Conference in Los Angeles, California, August, 1999 and ASQDE conference Ottawa, 2000.
